There is something incredibly inspiring about a group of like-minded women coming together to share their stories and journeys, which is exactly what went down when Team LIV attended this years Wellness Woman Summit, hosted by passionate wholefoods chef and author Angie Cowan.
Angie has been running the Wellness Woman summit for six consecutive years, and this year’s panel included Amy Molloy, Kirsten Bradley, Alison Morgan and Angie herself.
The panel topics ranged from sustainability, to permaculture, to dealing with grief joyfully and the ins and outs of running a wellness business.
Host Angie has just published her second cook book, Making peace before you eat, with more than 80 delicious gluten free, plant-based recipes that will enrich, nourish and deeply inspire a beautiful way of living.
Angie’s book encourages us to eat in a calm, grateful and connected manner. More considered eating not only places less pressure on the environment, it also demands less of our digestive systems and increases wellbeing.
Amy Molloy, journalist, editor and Hay House author, who produces uplifting content for the biggest names in global publishing, shared her journey from being a teenager who battled with anorexia, becoming a widower at the age of 23, her experience as the editor of Grazia and the joys of now balancing her young family and career. Her most recent book, The world is a nice place, how to overcome adversity joyfully, is an inspiring read about the hardships Amy has overcome, how she has beaten all the odds to lead a happy, hopeful life.
The panel sessions were broken up by delicious spreads of gluten and dairy free foods to feast on till your heart was content, prepared by the gorgeous Angie, Love Life and Gluten Free owner, ranging from zucchini pasta, cauliflower rice and a mouth-watering customised san choy bow. This was all topped off with an exquisite dessert selection.
Kirsten Bradley, permaculture educator and owner of Milkwood talked of the beautiful property she, her husband and their son live on. She spoke passionately about the importance of growing, designing and living like it matters. She has co-authored a book with her husband, The Milkwood Book, full of skills on living a handmade, home-grown existence. The book covers growing your own organic foods, how to build a natural building and an energy efficient homestead and how to create a sustainable community around you.
All three women spoke about the challenges of running successful businesses, sustainably, alongside having a family. The importance of self-care and managing self-expectations was a common theme throughout the day.
Finally, Alison Morgan, director of Relauncher, specialist online business coaching, with over 20 years experience in marketing for some pretty big brand names including Unilever, MBF and the Heart Foundation, and seven plus years of private business coaching, joined the party to talk about running a wellness business. She shared insight into the trends of social media and tips on building your personal and brand profile.
The room was buzzing with energy and warmth, filled with women who look to lead nourished, natural and balanced lives. What a treat! Can’t wait till next year!
