Ladies, this week it’s National Cervical Cancer Awareness Week and we want to know when was the last time you had a Pap Test.
The Australian Cervical Cancer Foundation (ACCF) is encouraging women to take control of their health and get up to date with their cervical screening.
It’s not something we always like to think about, let alone discuss, but it is crucial to get regularly checked and stop anything nasty in its tracks.
Changes to cervical screening
On December 1 this year there will be some changes to cervical screening procedures for women in Australia.
Currently women aged 18 to 69 are required to complete a Pap test every two years. These requirements are changing to a more accurate cervical screening test for human papillomavirus (HPV). The HPV test will only be required once every five years.
The age at which screening starts will also increase from 18 to 25.
Women are due for their first cervical screening test two years after their last Pap test.
Read more about these changes from the Australian Government Department of Health.
Are you up to date with your Pap tests and the changes to cervical screening in Australia? If so, show us by joining the ladies at the ACCF and here at LIV HQ in painting your nails orange for cervical cancer awareness. Take a photo and share on your social channels with the hashtag #AreYouUpToDate?
We’re looking forward to seeing those orange nails everywhere!
