Have you heard of Movember? It’s a movement sweeping the nation this month.
The Movember Foundation is asking men around Australia to grow their moustaches in order to raise awareness for a variety of topics in men’s health. From prostate and testicular cancer to mental health and suicide, there are many issues affecting men in our country and The Movember Foundation wants to spread awareness on these issues.
The organisation raises money to fund ground-breaking men’s health projects and they are breaking the boundaries of what it means to be a man in Australia.
To date the, The Movember Foundation has funded over 1,200 men’s health research projects across 21 countries and this number is steadily growing. There are plenty of ways that you can help!
How to get involved this Movember
Firstly, grow your mo!
If you don’t typically have a moustache, it will be a great conversation starter. People around you will ask why you’ve started this new look – what a great ice breaker to start a conversation about men’s health. Don’t forget to create a donation page for your mo! Also, you never know, you may find that a moustache is the perfect look for you.
Make it competitive
Who doesn’t like a round of competition amongst friends? There are plenty of ways to make a game out of it. Who can grow the funniest moustache? Who looks the best with a moustache? Whose moustache can get the most likes on Instagram? Who can raise the most money for men’s health? Whichever way you go, it will be a fun and exciting way to spread awareness for men’s health.
What if I can’t grow a mo?
Not to fear, there will be plenty of Australians without the capability to grow a moustache. That shouldn’t stop you from spreading awareness. Encourage those that you know to grow their mo and share their photos. Or if you want to be a bit more creative, use a fake one. Whether it be a sticker or your own hair pulled over your lip, post a silly selfie and tell everyone why Movember is important to you!
Let us know how it’s going
We want to see how you are going over the month. Post regular selfies of your mo growth and styles, use #Movember, and tag us on Instagram, Facebook and Twitter.
We can’t wait to see how it’s going!
